CHECK OUT OUR NEW BLOG!!!!!

THE NEW TUNER SOURCE BLOG

,

The USA gets this....

The UK gets the Junior-WRC Cosworth Ford Fiesta RS.

Seems as if the UK got the better deal in this case.

I love writing articles for The Tuner Source, but sometimes it just makes me feel really sad. I start and think about a good article I would like to write about and then I put that thought into action. I start by researching what I want to talk about, and that is when the sadness kicks in.

It seems that us Americans always gets shafted with the cool imports, and there are always explanations that the reason these products aren't imported is because of market studies blah blah blah. But I feel that as Americans we have to really trust each other more, sure some of the imports that I like might be considered too extreme for the public, but I have more faith in Americans. I have faith that simply we have to submit, and let ourselves be immersed in new things that initially we won't like, but later on we love. Point in case, the Nissan Skyline, a vehicle never imported over until recently with the Nissan GT-R.

My rants continue to sadden me, but right now I want to make you readers happy by showing you that there is a big world of automobile lovers out there. Here is just one of these examples.

It seems as if God really hated us during the time of the Ford Fiesta ST release.

This one seems nice too. Why couldn't we get this one? Sweet Jesus.

We were looking forward to celebrating our website release party with everyone on the 17th and we’re extremely appreciative for all the support we have received from so many people. However, due to compromising issues with our partnership with the Limelight promotions group that have arisen, we will no longer be able to participate in the event. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this has caused but still encourage anyone and everyone to attend the event as it is looking very promising and very fun. The launch of the website on the 17th will still be in effect so please visit the website and have a safe and pleasant President’s Day weekend.

Sincerely,

11/02: Part 4?!?!!

They've done it again. Just when you thought that the franchise couldn't continue, they went and made a part 4. Of course I'm talking about the Fast and Furious franchise!

I have to admit. Though not exactly a high art or super duper produced series, the Fast and Furious franchise has been highly successful by making entertaining films that are heavily targeted toward the car enthusiasts demographic (i.e. you fine folks). In part one, you had a very Point Break-esque analogical film starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, and man/woman Michelle Rodriguez (Trust me, the similarities are there. Just replace "surfing" with "street racing" and it's the same idea). Before the first Fast and Furious film, there wasn't a prominent street racing film in popular American cinema. Then in part two--the aptly named 2 Fast 2 Furious--the adventures continued but only this time, the cast saw familiar faces from the first installation along with Ludacris, Tyrese, and Eva Mendes.

Part three is when the series really flipped the script and introduced a completely new cast, a new director, and a completely new form of street racing. In The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, you had a hillbilly troubled kid who got shipped to Japan to live with his dad and he gets sucked in by the underground drift racing subculture of Japan. The film had breakthrough roles for many of the actors including rapper Bow Wow. However, Tokyo Drift was not as strongly produced as its first two predecessors and director Justin Linn was left with a project of appeasing to a demographic of Fast and Furious fans that was hanging on by a thread. Also, it was also unfair that as his breakthrough American film (aside from Better Luck Tomorrow), he had to work with unknown actors. In my opinion, he did the best with what he had and the though a bit hokey at times, the film turned out OK.

I feel the story of this new 4th installation will be a prequel to Tokyo Drift. It has been confirmed that Paul Walker and Vin Diesel will make a return as well as Sung Kang who played Han in Tokyo Drift. If you don't remember, Tokyo Drift ended with a cameo by Vin Diesel and it was stated that he was friends with Han. Part four will probably develop this story of their friendship. Also, Justin Linn will make his return and this time, I feel that he will have a fair opportunity to make a name for himself by working with bigger named actors and possibly a higher budgeted film.

Although I won't be quick to admit it, I get pretty excited every time I saw a trailer for a new Fast and Furious. I guess it'll just be another addition to complete my Fast and Furious DVD collection.

The BMW 2002 had a great reception with the public as an affordable sports compact car around the world, but unfortunately this would not last as new BMW models needed to be produced to keep up with the times. The top level BMW 2002 Tii had introduced the world to high level sports performance, and obviously Alpina saw a need to make an even better version of this. This same thought and philosophy transcended over to the the new 3-series BMW vehicles.

The earlier models of the 3-series were designated as A1, A2, and A4. These engines were derivatives of the M20 4-cylinder engine and ranged from 125-160 Horsepower. These were great strong cars, but obviously the public wanted more.

Thus came the 323i the more powerful version of the 3-series M20 engine. This car came with 140 Horspower with a lot more torque than the 2.0Liter versions of the M20.

Obviously once again Alpina found that making a better version of the top of the line BMW 3-series was needed. Thus they released the C1 and the B6 3-series. The C1 was a 323i that was reworked to produce 170 Horsepower.

The grand daddy of them all was the B6 which used the 6-cylinder 528i motor which produced 200-218 Horsepower.

Interior Upgrades
Recaro seats with Alpina style cloth (optional for C1 2.3)
Alpina leather steering wheel
Alpina wood gear knob
Alpina speedometer
Alpina identification plate

Upgrades on gearbox, fuel tank, diff and suspension
5-speed Getrag gearbox
100 litres fuel tank (optional for C1 2.3)
Limited slip diff with cooling ribs and stiffer lid (optional for C1 2.3)
Bilstein gas-pressured shocks with Ahle lowering springs
Uprated front brakes with dual ventilated discs

Upgrades adjustments
Deep front spoiler
Rear spoiler
Alpina wheels
Alpina stripes on both sides (optional)

This car soon then evolved into the E30 M3, and made history with many wins. The E21 Alpina vehicles will always be remembered to me for having classic 3-Series styling with raw sports/race roots. Thanks to our fellow brethren at www.bmwe21.net .

Southern California's favorite punk band, The Aquabats are selling their what looks like 1975 Winnebago RV on none other than Craigslist! They are doing so to save cost on their new television pilot that is rumored to be the show "Yo Gabba Gabba?" Don't quote me on it. This baby can be yours for $10,000! The funniest part about the post is that they state, "disco ball and .60-caliber ammunition not included."

For more information about The Aquabats RV for sale, check out Autoblog.com or the actual Craigslist posting.

Once in a while I like to browse around deviantart.com to find some inspiration. I found an artist so amazing and so detailed with their work that I had to showcase some of it on the blog. The artist I'm featuring goes by the pseudonym 'dangeruss'. I don't know much about them except for the fact that they're super proficient in 3D Studio MAX, Photoshop, AutoCAD and CorelDRAW and they they posses a "buttload o'skillz". Below are some examples of their work as well as linkageness. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Remember in the Flintstones cartoon where cars ran on human foot instead of gas? How cool would that be if there was an adaptation of that in real life? Well, obviously in the society we live in nowadays, everything is possible.

Introducing the HumanCar. There have been talks about the HumanCar for some time but up until recently, the possibility of it coming into fruition is rapidly becoming a reality. There has been a price set on the car ($15,000) and an availability date (April 22nd, which is Earth Day). The vehicle's dual electric motors give you a top speed of 30 mph plus the added human power input variable. And that's for the base model. You will also be able to add all the specs of a regular car, such as navigation system, an ipod connector, and the not-so regular specs, such as biometric devices to let you know how much of a workout you're getting.

This car is one of the first human-electric hybrid car and uses a BodySteer™ chassis. The concept of the car was thought of by Mr. Stephen Brand. I think the crazy aspect about the car is the added and standard options of the car such as: cup holders, A/C, heater, blower, biometrics (temperatures, bpm, calorie and physiological systems monitors), windows, locks, mirrors and wipers. The launch Mode also has a full-lockout and burn-out feature. Once this car comes out, I think it's safe to say that you'll be the coolest dude in your company's carpool.

Here is a video about the car:

Everyone wants one especially the yuppies that have the special edition box collection of The Fast and Furious. These guys have ruined many cars such as Mitsubishi Evo, Toyota Supra, Subaru STi, and now they are taking our beloved Skyline away from us. When I talk about us, I mean the real car enthusiasts, the guys that made sacrifices for the cars that they currently own. The yuppies on the other hand have these cars and think they are Michael Schumacher and end up crashing them into a wall. Yuppies are the type of guys that have no respect for cars, and merely purchase them because of the latest trend.

My answer to these chumps is to always give them the good one finger salutation or a big thumbs down while seeing them on the road.

The revered status of the GT-R will definitely have a mark up over the $69K price. For the first year there will only be 1500 examples of this car. So as If the euro and yen aren't screwing us over for imported goods our good brethren are going to screw us over as well. Price mark-ups have been verified all over the nation ranging from $20K-$60K at dealerships. Almost double!

The beauty of this car was that it was a legitimate Porsche and M3 destroyer at a fraction of the price. That was why this car was so hailed upon the news of its release globally. Now gready dealerships are having auctions on the car for the highest bidder.

This was pulled from a Exhaust Note speaking with a Nissan USA Representative:

“We are being very vocal about pricing of the car with consumers and the dealers to reinforce the value. As you know, we legally can’t prevent dealers from setting their own price as they are a franchise, but we will do what we can to reinforce the resistance to mark-ups."

“For the sale of GT-R’s we are asking dealers to require dealer principals and/or Executive Managers to deal with consumers interested in buying the GT-R. This ensures that management at the highest level of the dealership is making the deal."

“Additionally we are working with dealers to look at the long term plan for the vehicle on how mark-ups may hinder that plan. We are working closely with them so that they are aware and understand what we envision for the vehicle beyond the first model year and ensure they understand how their active involvement will help with that. This is definitely a partnership (as with any vehicle) so we want to reinforce that."

“Allocation of GT-Rs will be based on a number of criteria including the sale of current 350Z models so that may help ease some of the mark-up pressure."

“Finally we are requiring dealers to submit pre-sale paperwork through our regional offices which includes the sale price so that Nissan can provide ongoing counsel regarding mark-ups of the vehicle.”

It seems as if this allocation of GT-R vehicles will be 2-8 per dealership, and guess what? Waiting lists as well. Hopefully Nissan will strong arm these dealers on the second year the GT-R will be sold to bring the price down from near heaven.

The Nissan Figaro was first introduced in the early 90's as a competitor to the infamous Aston Martin's and Volkswagon beetles out there. But Nissan marketed these cute cars in only 20,000 units for the Japanese market. How could you obtain one of these? By lottery. A turbocharged convertible, the Figaro has been one of the rarest gemstones in the car market industry. They only came in 4 colors: Topaz Mist, Emerald Green, Pale Aqua and Lapis Grey. Other facts; the Figaro was equipped with leather seats, air conditioning, CD player and a retractable roof. It was designed by Shoji Takahashi, who won a design competition with the car. If you're lucky a couple might be listed on eBAY but goodluck prices can reach to an outrageous number. But hey, you can always ask Eric Clapton, he has one just lying in his garage somewhere.
